Rebrand Case Study: Central Coast DesignPros
What better example to use than ourselves when studying re-branding strategy. We decided to re-brand ourselves in order to make our company project a more family friendly business model.

Originally, we chose a condensed sans serif typeface, “Haettenschweiler” for its strength and boldness, which projects more of a corporate design business model. The main issue we saw with the old logo, was that the “Central Coast” got lost at a certain point (as you can see here). Since we are a regional business for the most part, it was important that the words “Central Coast” be visible even at small sizes. Our first identity served its purpose and got the company off the ground, but we wanted to project a more family friendly atmosphere going forward.

The new identity projects a much more family friendly look, from the hand-drawn type, to the rough edges on the symbol, to the yellow gradient. The logo still resembles the first however, so that our customers recognize that although our logo has changed, we are still the same business operated by the same people. By adding the tagline “A family based company” under the logo, we have established that this is a family based, family friendly business, and that we are moving forward with a renewed vigor when it comes to keeping our moral standards high.
